Chester and Porter are our two main waterfowl dogs. They share the hunting time equally. One goes out in the morning and the other in the afternoon.
Chester and Porter are also great family members, who in the off season laze around the house or go on vacations with us. When the snow melts we begin training so that they are on their game when waterfowl season comes around.
Chester is a four year old Chocolate lab. The only words to describe him when it comes to hunting is a machine. He has a drive and determination not very often seen. Chester began his hunting career at 16 months old, as Anthony's main guide dog. Hunters couldn't believe he was so young judging by the abilities that he showed in the field. Chester improves more and more each year and doesn't seem like just a dog in the field but....more like a great hunting buddy!
Porter is a three year old black lab (AKC registered). Porter comes from a professional Labrador trainer named Kathy Swab. Kathy's kennels is called Crosswind Kennels and is located in Marshaltown, Iowa. His pedigree speaks for it's self. His sire is a senior hunter in hunt test competitions. His grand sire is the great 2 x NFC/ 2 X NAFC Champion - Lean Mac. Porter is a large muscular dog that weighs in around 100 lbs. He has great drive and determation and lives for Waterfowl season. Porter just loves to please. In the field, he has an excellent sense of his surroundings. If he's on his way back from a retrieve and he hears a goose call, he will lay down on the spot and wait for the calling to stop or the birds to drop.
Our two boys spend anywhere from 30-40 days in the field and were raised around waterfowl hunting. You show them a call, shotgun or take a decoy out and they are in the passenger seat of the truck, ready to go. We haven't taught them to drive yet!!!!
We welcome any of our hunters to bring their dogs. We have a lot of space at our place to keep them. It also gives Chester and Porter a well deserved break.
